Monty Tech students win medals at local SkillsUSA FITCHBURG - A total of 156 students at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School won medals at the SkillsUSA Massachusetts local-level competition held recently at the school. Students competed in 44 technical skill and leadership events. Those finishing in the top four positions qualified to go on to the district and state-level competitions. SkillsUSA Massachusetts is a state association of SkillsUSA, a national organization serving more than 275,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations. Students compete in local, district, state, and national competitions in occupational and leadership skills. This year's theme is "Champions At Work." Based on their performance at the local competition, 136 students represented Monty Tech at the annual District Skills Conference held at the end of February at Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School. The remaining local medals winners will go directly to the state-level competition slated for May in Marlboro.
