Christian Performing Arts Center celebrates Easter

FITCHBURG - The traditional folktale "The Tale of Three Trees," as retold by Angela Elwell Hunt, brings the experience of Easter to the stage through storytelling and dance. As three little trees stand on a hill dreaming and praying about the potential of their lives, they begin an unusual journey of what, at first, appears to be broken dreams and despair. As their lives unfold, however, God not only fulfills their dreams but transforms the trees into viable life forces that become greater than their imaginations could have revealed. Each tree shares in Christ's journey on earth, experiencing the magic of His birth, the power of His leadership, the sacrifice of His death and, at last, the glory of His resurrection. Each part of this story evolves through dance including a tree as the cross, being carried on the back of Jesus as He walks to Calvary. The power and beauty of this Easter production brings the passion of Christ to the stage in a way that people of all ages can understand and enjoy.

The play opens on tonight at 7 p.m. and continues with performances on Saturday, March 15, at 7 p.m. and Friday, March 21 (Good Friday), at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Performances will be held at Rollstone Congregational Church, 199 Main St.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by calling (978) 345-2915. Ticket prices for all performances are $5 general admission. Pictured is Teddi Lappas as Tree 1 and Jessica Potts as Little Tree 1.
