Deanne M. (Evanhousky) Poirer, 63
Was native of Fitchburg; FHS graduate

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - Deanne M. (Evanhousky) Poirer, 63, of Crossville, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, after having suffered a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on July 2, 1944, in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Mae (Thomasian) Koski also of Fitchburg. She had been a resident of Crossville since April of 2006.

Deanne was a 1962 graduate of Fitchburg High School and later graduated from Worcester Vocational with a degree in cosmetology. She then worked as a hairdresser in Fitchburg, until she moved to Jupiter/Tequesta, Fla. in 1970. She was married on April 24, 1965, to Ronald R. Poirier of Fitchburg, in St. Bernard's Church, Fitchburg. While living in Florida, she was employed as a deli/meat specialist for 12 years at Publix Supermarkets in Tequesta, Fla. After a few years of retirement, Mrs. Poirier went to work for American Greetings as a sales representative for five years and then was employed at Bristol Myers/Squip Corp. also as a sales representative for over 12 years.

Deanne was a softball coach for girl's softball for the Jupiter/Tequesta Athletic Association for many years and was very active in helping organize many softball tournaments for the J.T.A.A. She also helped organize the first Christmas parade held in Jupiter to be sponsored by the J.T.A.A. She was an avid bingo player and loved to play cards. She also enjoyed traveling around Florida, watching her children participate in many spring events such as soccer, softball and baseball. On April 1, 2006, she moved to Crossville Tenn., with her husband to continue her fight with Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald R. Poirier of Crossville, Tenn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn M. (Poirier) and Sean Moore of Braintree; a son, Stephen Todd Poirier of Tequesta, Fla.; her future daughter-in-law, Sandra Castro of Boca Raton, Fla.; a granddaughter, Erin Moore of Braintree; one sister, Joyce Marabello of Fitchburg; her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Robert Poirier, of Crossville; her extended family members, Charlie Bacon Jr. of Westminster, Barbara Seney of Fitchburg, Richard Bacon of Ashburnham, and Trudy Bacon of Nashua, N.H.; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lazarus House Hospice, 260 West 5th St., Crossville, Tenn. 38501. Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home directed arrangements.
