Republican committee elected The Ashburnham Republican Town Committee has elected new officers and is setting up a schedule of events for the upcoming year. During the February Presidential Primary election Ashburnham Republicans elected eight people to the town's Republican Town Committee. Those people included Matthew Christiansen, George Cornwall, Jr., Jonathan Dennehy, Patricia Dennehy, Jane Rose Gregoire, Richard Gregoire, Patricia Lubelczyk and Alan Rickheit. William Brown, Jr., of Winchendon, was elected on the same ballot to serve as the Republican State Committee Man for the state senate district of Worcester/ Franklin. The Republican Committee members followed up on their election by holding a meeting on March 12 and during that meeting Jonathan Dennehy was elected as chairman, Christiansen was elected as treasurer, and Cornwall was elected as secretary "I am excited about the recent reorganization and revitalization of the Ashburnham Republican Town Committee," Dennehy said in a press release. "It is an essential part of our democracy to have voices heard from as many different groups and parties as possible." The committee along with other area Republican town committees will hold a Meet and Greet event at the Winchendon School in Winchendon on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. with candidate for U.S. Senate Jim Ogonowski. The Ashburnham Republican Town Committee members are discussing holding a social event in May and having a booth at the Ashburnham Downtown Day event scheduled for June 28. "We will be active on a number of different fronts as the year goes on," Dennehy said in the press release. The Committee's meetings are open to the public. "The Massachusetts Republican Party faces a very distinct challenge in the months and years ahead," Dennehy said. "We need to organize to recruit and support candidates for local office so that we may build a 'farm system' of quality Republican candidates for higher office." |
