Lichen World to be highlighted by Trust A program on lichens will be the featured event at the annual meeting of the Ashburnham Conservation Trust at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Stevens Memorial Library, 20 Memorial Drive. Elizabeth Kneiper, instructor of habitat focused lichen courses for the New England Wild Flower Society, the president of Harvard University's Friends of the Farlow Reference Library & Herbarium, will introduce attendees to the fascinating fungal world of lichens. Kneiper's enthusiasm for lichens and knowledge of their diversity and ecology will captivate adults and children alike. The public is cordially invited to join Trust members for the mid-morning presentation that will also include refreshments and fundraising raffle items. The only Land Trust business will be the election of new board members and brief updates of current and upcoming Trust projects and activities. Cell phones can be recycled at the library as a benefit for the Trust. For information, contact the Trust at (978) 827-6427. |
