WESTMINSTER - Simonne M. (Hamel) Michaud, 86, of 43 Dean Hill Road, formerly of Fitchburg and Florida, died Friday, April 4, 2008, in her home after an illness.

She was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Quebec, the daughter of the late Aleis and Eva Hamel. She worked for the former Fitchburg General Hospital as a nurse's aide and a cook. Following that she worked for Digital Equipment Corp., before her retirement.

Mrs. Michaud enjoyed cooking, sewing, and attending prayer meetings.

She leaves three sons, Jacques Michaud of Westminster, Laurent Michaud of the Philippines, and Richard Michaud of Hubbardston; two daughters, Lisette Andries of Westminster and Jacqueline Choquette of Leominster; 14 grandchildren, Brenda Breshears, Michael Michaud, Marylou Michaud, Larry Michaud, Daniel Michaud, Daniel Andries, Adam Andries, Kevin Michaud, Scott Michaud, Jessica Michaud, Ian Michaud, Peter Michaud, Natalie Michaud, and Ryan Michaud; many great-grandchildren; her siblings, Anita Audet, Gilbert Hamel, Annette Taillaur, Oscar Hamel, Denise Breau, and Micheline Hamel. Her husband of 63 years, Lucien P. Michaud, died Nov. 27, 2007. She was also predeceased by two sons, Michael and Marc Michaud, one daughter, Suzanne Michaud, and her siblings, Fernande and Blandine, Aristide, and Lionel Hamel.
