Oakmont Lacrosse news

Oakmont started a lacrosse club with both girls and boys programs for the 2007-2008 spring season, which will play at the junior varsity level for competitions.

In recent action the girls' team played a spirited game against the Leominster High School team and beating them with a goal scored in the last 30 seconds, ending the game with a final score of 9-8.

The Oakmont girls have played three other games in recent weeks with victories over Hudson and Milford, but suffered a tough loss to Algonquin.

The boy's team also played Leominster on April 17 at home on the Oakmont turf.

In a very physical game Oakmont took control after a tight first half and put together a solid 7-3 victory. In the last few weeks Oakmont has accumulated three additional victories with wins over Algonquin, Hudson and Milford.

The program was added as a self-funded club sport of Oakmont's rooster to gage participation and interest in the sport. The Oakmont teams are competing against JV/Club level teams in Central Massachusetts.
