Westminster veterans who are looking for a connection to state or federal services will have look towards town's assistant veterans' agent for a time.

Philip Buso, who is also the Gardner veterans' agent, will be the contact for Westminster veterans. Buso served as the town's veterans' agent for about four years in the early part of the decade.

He is reachable at (978) 630-4017 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The town's veterans' agent, Edward Dube, had to take a temporary leave of absence from the position for medical reasons.

The agent is liaison between the state and local veterans.

In an interview shortly after taking the position, Dube said the job is to help veterans with in financial need, acquiring or completing paperwork or by reserving a plot in one of the state cemeteries.

Dube, at the time also said he is able to work with veterans and their families to get the support services they need and for which they qualify. The state states the financial guidelines for those veterans who receive financial help.
