For your work

(Left) Westminster Police Officer Amy Ballentine was presented with a citation from Board of Selectmen Chairman John Fairbanks on Wednesday, April 30. She and Firefighter David Monty (above), who was also presented with a citation on Wednesday, were honored for a heroic rescue.
Westminster Fire Capital Kevin Nivala wrote to the chiefs of both the Fire and Police departments to recognize Police Officer Amy Ballentine and Firefighter David Monty for their work in pulling a man out of burning car.

Ballentine was the first police officer to arrive on the scene of a single car accident on West Princeton Road just after midnight on a Tuesday in April, and she arrived just after Monty who was driving the ambulance.

They pulled the driver out of the car, which was already on fire and was fully involved when Nivala arrived on scene moments later, he said.

The Selectmen presented citations to the two to honor their work.

"I think Dave and I think about this as just doing our job," Ballentine said.
