WESTMINSTER - Daniel J. O'Hearn, 89, formerly of Westminster, and North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Sterling Healthcare, Sterling, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family and a very caring staff.
He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., but lived the majority of his life in Westminster, before retiring to North Fort Myers.
Mr. O'Hearn was a salesman for A&E Distributors in Leominster for 17 years and then served as a Selectman, Town Treasurer and his remaining years serving the town as the Town Coordinator for Westminster. He was a former member of the Westminster Democratic Town Committee, former member and treasurer of the Westminster V.F.W. Post. He served in the U.S. Army as a Technical Sergeant and also in the Air Force Reserves as a Technical Sergeant. He loved going out on his boat at Cape Cod, fishing, and spending time with his family there. He was an avid golfer and Boston Red Sox fan. He followed all of his grandsons' Boston College football games, attending them all and traveling to all of the Boston College Bowl Games as well.
Mr. O'Hearn leaves two daughters, Sharon Halloran and her husband, Michael, and Kathleen Stacy and her husband, Samuel, all of Westminster; one sister, Helen VanDer- Mark of Oceanside, Calif.; one niece, Patricia Travers of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Shawn Halloran, Kelly Pavinelli, Gabriella Stacy-Williamson, Alicia Stacy, Shane O'Hearn, Danny O'Hearn and Danielle Thibeault, and 15 great-grandchildren. His beloved wife of 57 years, Lillian (Hunt) O'Hearn, died in 1999 and his son, Ronald O'Hearn died in 2006.
