Letters to the Editor Policy

The Community Journal welcomes letters to the editor focusing on local news or events as well as other issues important to community residents.

Letters should be 500 words or less, and should include the writer's name and contact information in order to verify authorship. We will not publish that contact information. Writers are limited to one letter every 30 days.

Those wishing to write at greater length on a subject can submit a Speak Out column at a maximum of 1,000 words. Individuals are limited to one Speak Out piece every 60 days.

The editor reserves the right to reject letters or edit for clarity, brevity, good taste and accuracy and to prevent libel. No poetry, attacks on private individuals, or letter-writing campaigns, please.

Anonymous letters are automatically rejected.

The Community Journal reserves the right to refuse or hold any submission. Please avoid handwritten letters if at all possible.

All submissions become the property of The Community Journal and are not returned to the author.

The opinions expressed in letters or columns, as well as any other opinion piece are solely the opinion of the author and not necessarily the opinion of the staff or editors of The Community Journal. The publication of an opinion does not imply an endorsement by The Community Journal.

You can send us letters to the editor by e-mail to editor@thecommunityjournal.com, by fax to (978) 827-3200, or by mail to The Community Journal, P.O. Box 67, Ashburnham, MA 01430.

The deadline for letters is Tuesday at noon, and letters are published in the order in which they are received if space is limited.

For more information or questions regarding the letter to the editor policy, please call News Editor Caitlyn Kelleher at (978) 827-3386.

Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you.
