Monty Tech captures medals at state Skills

Two local students will be among the 12 Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School students that will travel to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference.

Allison Hamel, of Ashburnham, won a gold medal in the Total Quality Management category, and Sarah Bailey, of Westminster, earned a gold medal in the cosmetology (over 500 hours) category.

They will travel to Kansas City, Mo., this summer.

Also placing during the state level competition was Ryan Boudreau, of Ashburnham, who earned a bronze medal in technical drafting.

Monty Tech students won a total of 35 medals: 13 gold; 11 silver and 11 bronze.

SkillsUSA is a national organization, in partnership with business and industry, that prepares students for the world of work through opportunities that develop job, teamwork, leadership and professional skills through education, training, service and competition.
