When people gather at an American Cancer Society Relay For Life®, they come to share hope, celebrate those who are surviving cancer, and fight back against the disease. But, they also come to remember those who have been lost. Whether honoring them with the bright glow of hope during the luminaria ceremony or with moments of private thought, taking time to remember people who have lost their lives to cancer is an important part of Relay. It is because of them that the community continues the fight and strives for a future where cancer is no longer a threat to the lives of family and friends.
