Lions to host fundraiser

The Ashburnham Lions next fundraising event is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at the Ashburnham Downtown Day. A Silent Auction and 50/50 auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a Chicken BBQ from 5 to 7 p.m. Anyone interested in donating items for the Silent Auction or purchasing barbecue tickets is asked to contact Lions Club Secretary, Mary Reed, at (978) 827-6696.

Habitat Local Project Committee seeks volunteers

The Habitat for Humanity Ashburnham Project Committee is looking for volunteers to help build, provide snacks, and host the site at 203 Sherbert Road in Ashburnham.

Experience is not necessary, there is something for everyone to do. Tasks will vary depending on the day, but no experience is required and you will not be asked to do anything you are not comfortable with. Water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and tools provided. Library kicks off Summer Reading Program 2008

Stevens Memorial Library will kick-off its Summer Reading Program 2008 "Wild Reads at Your Library" with a cookout from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the library, 20 Memorial Drive.

Other Summer Reading Program events include Discover Massachusetts Parks at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19. Join Ranger Kathy Ward and discover unique recreation opportunities that exist in using the free Library Parks Pass.

Hist'ry-onics, retelling American history through song, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10. The music is toe-tapping, the lyrics tell tales of American History accompanied by an array of musical instruments. The performance is educational, filled with historical people, places and things.

Mary Jo Maichack, a minstrel storyteller, presents "A Feast of Beasties" at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17.

Animal Adventures, featuring live exotic animals from around the world, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24.

On Tuesdays movies will be shown at 10:30 a.m. June 24, July 1, 8, 15 and 22. On Wednesdays craft times will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 25, July 2, 9, 16 and 23.

An Ending Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31.
