Community Notes Outdoor Concert Saturday Outdoor Christian concert offers faith and music Pinestock, an outdoor Christian concert, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Camp Pineshore, located on Wyman's Pond, Westminster. The concert will feature performances by Bill Mallia and the Gulf Stream Band, Samuel Bowen, Crossfire, and Walk By Faith. The camp is owned by Messiah Lutheran Church in Fitchburg. The idea for Pinestock was conceived by John Paajanen, who is director of the organization that conducts the Bible Camp ministry at Pineshore and is involved in the Pineshore facility committee. Suggested donation for the event, which includes the concert and a barbecue, is $10 per person or $25 per family. Please e-mail jpaajanen@juno.com for more information. Rain date June 28 Historical Society extends contest deadline The Westminster Historical Society is extending the deadline for its Photo Contest until October 31, 2008. The society's goal is to produce a series of postcards of the town, and the members are looking for photos of places in Westminster appropriate to be featured on a postcard. The winners will be announced in November. Postcards will be made from the contest winners, and each will have names of photographers identified. The photo can be anything of interest a historic building, a beautiful view or anything unique to Westminster that is appropriate for a postcard. Each contestant can only submit three photos, and each must be of a Westminster location, at any point in history. The photos and a digital form of the photo (minimum of 300 dpi) must be submitted to the Historical Society, and will become the property of the Society¹s collection. Each photo must be accompanied by a statement of the photographer¹s name, address, and telephone number, and location and subject of photo. The photos are to be submitted by Oct. 31, 2008, to the Westminster Historical Society, 110 Main St., POB 177, Westminster, MA 01473. Bring a blanket or chair to the Summer Band Concerts The stage is set for the Ashburnham Community Church's upcoming 2008 Summer Free Band Concert Series. All concerts start at 5 p.m. at Winchester Park (near the Ashburnham Police Station) and feature an evening of great music, "hot-off-the-grill" sausages, hamburgers and hot dogs, beverages, popcorn and home-baked goodies. There will be raffle drawings for attendance prizes for adults and children too. Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 22, as the community welcomes back "The New England Swing Orchestra" specializing in Big Band Music from the 1930's, 40's and 50's, Rhythm & Blues, Rock n' Roll, Soul and Motown Chuck and Mudd will wrap up the concert series on Sunday, July 13, performing original Folk Americana sung and played directly from the heart. Seminar on 'Building Green' to be held Phillips Builders will host a seminar on "Building Green" at 6 p.m. June 26, at the Best Western Hotel, 150 Royal Plaza Drive. The seminar will feature guest speakers and a visit by Terry O'Reilly, of the Boston Bruins Hall of Fame, who will sign personalized autographs from 5 to 6 p.m. to the first 100 guests who register at www.WeBuildThemGreen. com.
