Downtown Day

Two-year-old Elizabeth Fortune puts sand in her funnel with the help of her father, Bruce, as they prepare to make a sand design picture at one of the kids' activities set up as part of Downtown Day in Ashburnham on Saturday, June 28. The sixth annual event drew a large crowd despite slightly overcast weather. For more pictures turn to page 12. JOURNAL PHOTO/ CAITLYN KELLEHER

The daylong event attracted a crowd of visitors who were not only Ashburnham residents but those who live throughout the area. Ashburnham Municipal Light Company celebrated it's 100th birthday with a cake (upper right) and a give away of money to the future scouting center by paying for 500 lunches for those attending Downtown Day.
