Westminster calendar of events at the COA

The Westminster Senior Center is open Monday through Friday 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m. and is located in the American Legion Hall, 127 Main St. For more information, call Susan Fisher at (978) 874-7402.

M.O.C. meals are delivered daily. To reserve a meal, participants must call (800) 286-3441, before 11 a.m. the day before.

A minimum of 24-hour advanced notice is necessary to reserve seating on the Council on Aging curb-to-curb van service. The COA has two shopping days a week - Searstown (the Mall as Whitney Field) on Tuesday afternoons and to Gardner on Thursday mornings. The van is available for medical purposes only during the other days of the week.

The Westminster Senior Center will be closed today in observance of Independence Day.

Donna Brownell is hosting a Meet and Greet on Thursday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Senior Center for state Rep. Jennifer Flanagan (D-Leominster), who is seeking the state Senate seat, which is held by retiring Sen. Robert Antonioni. Flanagan is running against Brian Knuuttila in the Sept. 16 Democratic primary.

Montachusett Opportunity Council Elder Nutrition and Sean Patrick's Restaurant will sponsor The Summer BBQ- 2008 on Wednesday, July 23. Chicken quarter with barbecue sauce, baked beans, salad, Italian dressing, dinner roll with butter, strawberry shortcake with whipped topping, and milk will be served. Cost is $5.75.

Seniors are asked to save the date for its Ashburnham, Westminster, Gardner Cookout scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. at Lith's Club, Airport Road, Gardner. A $4 donation is appreciated, along with salads and goodies. Please bring a lawn chair. A sign-up sheet will be posted at the senior center.

Patty Carpenter, vocalist and recording artist, will perform at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the senior center. Light refreshments served.
